Samsung Partners with Krafton and Epic Games to Challenge Apple in Mobile Gaming

Samsung Partners

Samsung is reportedly collaborating with Krafton and Epic Games to develop mobile games. These games are said to be exclusive to its foldable devices, such as the Galaxy Flip and Fold.

Formation of Gaming Task Force Teams

Samsung has already initiated the operation of Gaming Task Force (TF) teams in four countries, including Korea, the UK, China, and Ukraine. Their recent partnerships with prominent gaming companies have taken their plans up a notch.

Notable names like NCSoft, Nexon, Smilegate, Kakao Games, and Pearl Abyss are also contributing to the development, as reported by Wccftech on October 13, 2023.

Strong Relationships Samsung

The strong relationships Samsung has forged with these gaming companies are seen as a stepping stone to boost the foldable phone market more rapidly. Industry insiders suggest that this could potentially reduce future expenses for purchasing gaming consoles or PCs.

In addition to these collaborations, Samsung is set to launch the Samsung Gaming Hub, a dedicated gaming cloud for Galaxy smartphones, aiming to nurture its mobile gaming business. It is rumored that gamers will be able to experience this platform in the first quarter of the upcoming year.

A Challenger to Apple?

Although not explicitly stated, this move by Samsung appears to be a part of its effort to compete with Apple. Earlier reports highlighted Apple’s recent launch of the iPhone 15 Pro Series. These phones are equipped with the A17 Pro chip, boasting exceptional capabilities. They are claimed to be capable of running AAA games such as Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Death Stranding.

Conclusion

In a recent update, Resident Evil Village is expected to be available on the iPhone 15 Pro Series from October 30. Meanwhile, the release date for Death Stranding is yet to be announced, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to be available in the first half of 2024.

As Samsung strengthens its ties with gaming giants and focuses on developing mobile games exclusively for its foldable devices, it is clear that they are positioning themselves to become a significant player in the mobile gaming industry, intensifying the competition with Apple in this space.
